The Watchtower Bullsheet and Trash Society should read Leolaia's summary of the parable in context because it is the plain and simple TRUTH.

A knock-down argument against the WBTS interpretation of Matt 24:45-47!
by yadda yadda 2 inthe wbts teaches that in 1919 jesus inspected all of christendom and appointed the wbts "over all his belongings" in fulfillment of matthew 24:45-47: "who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings.".

Apostasy from JWs? That's not what the Bible says...hmmmm
by Awakened at Gilead ini have been called an apostate in the past week by my sil, my stepdad, and my soon to be ex-wife.
it didn't help that apostasy was featured in this past weeks wt study, a point my ex was quick to remind me.... .
i have done a quick search in the wt cd rom to see how many times the word apostate or derivatives appear (i searched "aposta*").. .

Excellent point V!! Yes, Jehovah still communicated with Satan, the first and arch 'apostate', and even more, he listened to his arguments and allowed his theory to be tested.
Actually, there are different shades of meaning for what an 'apostate' is. In broad terms a former member of any religion who turns against it and attacks it can be said to be apostate. It doesn't have to be apostacy against 'true worship' as such. It's more about the attitude and mentality of the person leaving their former religious group. Certainly JW's abuse the term by saying that anyone who merely questions or shows dissent and leaves the religion in good conscience is an 'apostate' against true worship. They harshly and unjustly judge many otherwise good who simply choose to leave the organisation but still love Jehovah and the Bible and otherwise maintain moral Christian lives.

The WBTS teaches that in 1919 Jesus inspected all of Christendom and appointed the WBTS "over all his belongings" in fulfillment of Matthew 24:45-47: "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. Truly I say to you, He will appoint him over all his belongings."
But when does Jesus arrive? Matthew 25: 31-33: "When the Son of man arrives in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit down on his glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will put the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left?"
(Correct me if I'm wrong but the same Greek word (tenses aside) for arrives/ing is used in both passages of scripture.)
So when is Matthew 25:31-33 fulfilled? The Society correctly teaches that Jesus arrives to sit on his glorious throne in the future!! (although they incorrectly qualify this throne as only a throne of 'judgment', not a throne of Kingship as King of God's Kingdom). This was 'new light' in 1995.
Yet they continue to teach that the 'arriving' in Matt 24:45-47 occurred in 1919!!!
You can use this with JW family and friends as a near knock-down argument against the Society's assertion that Jesus appointed them "over all his belongings" in 1919. It's a shameless contradiction and abuse of scripture by the WBTS to maintain their positions of absolute authority over JW's.

ANNUAL MEETING:Not gleening - still fully in the harvest
by still_in74 inbrother at our kh last night reveiwed the annual meeting.. nothing earth shattering but went on about how the gb was really being "transparent" and showing who they are and how they think.
that they are people just like us!
they have apparently been pondering the bs change for "years" in order to provide more time for the essential 'family study night" - so much for gas prices suddenly increasing.

Which harvest? If he is talking about the harvesting and sifting of the wheat and the weeds, well, lets not forget that the WTS from 1995 has correctly stated that the separation of the sheep from the goats doesn't occur until Jesus ARRIVES IN THE FUTURE! So how the heck could the sifting of the wheat and the weeds have been going on from 1914 or 1919 or whatever dumb date they say. They are both separating works, yet the Society applies completely different time-frames. Bullsheeet!! Just more double-speak and capricious, self-serving contradictory interpretations by the Watchtower Bullshit and Trash Society.

Four Horsemen
by cameo-d indoes wt teach that the rider on white horse is jesus?.
do the other horsemen have identities that are actually named?.
-
yadda yadda 2
Excellent Leolaia, thanks for that research. I also think it's also a crucial point that the 3 other horseman are all states, conditions, not individuals. The white horse and rider should logically be the same. Something to do with victory, conquest of the earth by the evil forces that follow, as Doug Mason suggests. The mistake made by the Watchtower is easy to make though as the similarity with the white horse and rider in Rev 19 is obvious.

Germany then; USA now?
by sammielee24 inthought provoking article...when it's in black and whilte it seems eerie ...i didn't write it - i stumbled across it today - sammieswife... america now is germany then: analogies .
1 commentamerica now is germany then: analogies.
the german people of the late 1930s imagined themselves to be brave.
-
yadda yadda 2
There are definite similarities between then and now in terms of the propaganda, imagined enemies, unconstitutional actions, abuses of power, erosion of civil liberties, and ignorance and apathy. No doubt about that. But the article suffers from unhelpful generalisations. The German people have never been cowards and its a terrible insult to say that. Neither are Americans.

Fall of the wtbts
by veen ini'm sure if the soviet union was capable of collapse, then so will be the watchtower.

Unless some atheistic dictator takes over New York, the WBTS will never 'fall'. They'll just slowly change, mutate, suffer attrition, retrench, rationalise, etc, etc for years and years to come....

Most damning portion?
by Slappy ini've tried posting this twice b4, but apparently firefox wasn't working all that well, so i'll see if it actually works with ie.. ****************************************************************************************************************************************.
is luke 23:39-43 the single most damning portion in the bible for the jw, mormon, and other similar 'religions' that profess to believe in the god of the bible?
when did the thief do good works in order to attain his salvation?
-
yadda yadda 2
Slappy, dont let people taunt and distract you. Most persons on this forum have no love or faith God and the bible remember.
In a nutshell, I think Luke 23: 39-43 shows that in the final analysis, having faith in Jesus and expressing that is all that is needed for salvation. Religious affiliations, works, etc, can help with that but they will not save someone in the end. Those having faith in and calling on the name of the Lord (Jesus) will be saved.
I don't see JW's doing a lot of that....
